Air Waybill (AWB)
Equivalent to the term air consignment note means the document entitled Air Waybill/ Consignment Note' made out by or on behalf of shipper which evidence the contract between the shipper and carrier(s) for carriage of goods over the routes of the carrier(s).
Air Waybill, Neutral
A standard AWB without identification of issuing carrier in any form.
Baggage, unaccompanied
Baggage carried as CarGo. Baggage shipped as CarGo shall consist of personal wearing apparel and personal articles of a passenger (including portable musical instruments, portable typewriters and portable sports equipment but excluding machinery, machine or spare parts, money, securities, jewellery, watches, plate and plated ware, furs, films, cameras, tickets, documents, liquors, perfumes and articles of household furnishing, merchandise and salesman samples.
Consignee
The person/party whose name appears on the air waybill to whom the goods are to be delivered by the carrier
Consignment
Means one or more pieces of goods accepted by the carrier from one shipper at one time and at one address, receipted for in one lot and moving on one air waybill to one consignee at one destination address
Consignment, consolidated
A consignment of multi-packages which has been originated by more than one person each of whom has made an agreement for carriage by air with another person other than a scheduled air carrier.
Conditions pertaining thereto, applied to that agreement, may or may not be the same as the conditions pertaining thereto, applied by the scheduled air carrier for the same carriage.
Consignor (Shipper)
Means the person whose name appears on the air waybill as the party contracting with the carrier(s) for carriage of goods
Dangerous Goods
Dangerous goods are defined as articles or substances which are capable of posing a significant risk to health, safety, property or the environment and which are shown in the list of IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations or which are classified according to IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations
Declared Value for Carriage
The value of goods declared to the carrier by the consignor for the purpose of fixing the limit of the carrier's liability for loss or damage to CarGo. It is also the basis for applicable valuation charges
Delivery Order
The authorization to deliver CarGo to the consignee on the production of Identity Card or letter on consignee's letterhead
Gross weight
The weight of the shipment including all packing, blocking etc. Also including the weight of platforms, special bracing etc. if required.
Valuable (VAL)
Valuable CarGo means a consignment which contains one or more of the following articles:
Volume Weight
The cubic volume of a consignment is established by applying the greatest length, greatest width and the greatest height of the consignment or its packages. If dimensions are in inches, the volume is divided by 366 and in case of centimetres volume is divided by 6000 to get volume weight
